The ClearDNS Manifesto

The internet was supposed to be yours. Somewhere along the way, it became a place where you are the product - watched, profiled, and sold, often before a page even finishes loading.

We built ClearDNS because privacy should be the default, not a setting you have to fight for. Every account you create, every email you hand over, every "accept all" you click is one more thread in a profile being built about you. We decided to remove the thread entirely.

We don't want to know who you are

Most services ask for your identity and promise to protect it. We took the opposite path: we never collect it in the first place. Your identity on ClearDNS is a random cryptographic key, generated on your device and known only to you. No name. No email. No password. There is no account to breach, subpoena, or sell - because there is no account at all.

We can't sell what we don't have

Surveillance capitalism runs on data exhaust: the quiet stream of everywhere you go and everything you do. ClearDNS is built so that stream never reaches us. DNS queries on our standard tiers are answered in real time and discarded - not logged, not mined, not monetized. The only way to keep data safe is to never hold it.

Encryption is not optional

Your DNS requests reveal every site you visit. We encrypt them end to end with DNS-over-HTTPS and DNS-over-TLS, so your ISP, your network, and anyone in between are left in the dark - exactly where they belong.

You decide what gets through

Privacy without control is just a different cage. ClearDNS hands you the keys: block ads, trackers, malware, adult content, Big Tech telemetry, and more - across every device - and change your mind whenever you want. Your network, your rules.
